I live in a majority black city for the last 25 years. there have been a small handful of incidents with bad people, but I interact with black people most days and surprisingly not only do most of them ignore me, but the interactions have been unexpectedly pleasant. this is the South, so people are friendly in general. but black people are even more socially outgoing. I've had dudes jump start my car, different guys pushed my dead car into a parking lot, I was dead broke and one of the guys tried to get me a job(!) neither time did anyone ask for money or act anything other than friendly. I killed the battery on my friend's car and a black guy jumped it and I tried to give him $20 and he got offended and refused. a guy a couple days ago got all excited about my bike baskets and I told him what to search for to get some, he was super ghetto, too, even more than usual but nice as could be. I literally don't have enough space to list all the positive interactions.
the shit you see on tv is the opposite of my experience except maybe 2 or 3 things the whole time I've been here.
