I badly need a fuck around winter bike and to enjoy riding in the dark again. Probably a gravel build since that would be the most useful addition to my stable. As a truly broken person I am completely dependent on the endorphins from cardiovascular exercise to maintain a facade of mental wellness. Indoor training just doesn't hit the same.

ride more. let your body get accustomed to biking. go slower. don't try to do 100km trips with 30+ avg speeds. it takes time to build up your endurance.

If you consider raincapes. Know you'll just sweat your ass off and the thing might feel worse on you than just being usually wet. Also you're wet due to. sweating. Just put on less stuff it dries again faster. In the cold it's no use either as it's not wet when cold.

I guess you live in Finland or something where there's subzero temps in September? in a lot of the world, it can rain in December - February. it's raining here now.

the reason raincapes are better than raincoats is that it's completely open underneath so the air circulates instead of trapping all your body heat so you either don't sweat, or far less so, depending on temperature.
they're cut for a riding profile so they don't flap around like a regular poncho and they usually have a brim on the hood to protect rain from flying into your eyes .
but if they don't work for you, then don't use them.
