Is there any compelling reason I SHOULDN'T put Tannus solid airless tires on my next single speed bicycle?
Pros:
>Indestructible, will never go flat
>Lasts for 3K to 5K miles depending on rider
>No longer need to carry spare tubes, patches, mini pump, etc
>Larger diameter tire sizes supposedly ride pretty nice
Cons
>2x as expensive as fancy name brand pneumatic tires like Continental
>Tires ride a bit harder, or a lot harder, than their pneumatic equivalents depending on tire size
>Can cause spokes to puncture through rims if you have weak rims
I feel like the tradeoffs are acceptable. The idea of not even having to worry about riding over that patch of broken glass, never having to worry about a flat, seems like bliss.
Is there something else I should know? Is there some bogeyman that will jump out and get me if I get a pair? I'd probably go for the 700x32c tires which are supposed to have pretty decent ride quality.
I've watched a bunch of YouTube reviews and no one gave me a compelling reason not to give them a try, but I was wondering if any of you have some experience with them?
