Missile and radar technology has gotten to the point that if you know roughly where a carrier is (within ~25km) you can reliably strike it, with or without carrier "countermeasures".
Don't get me wrong though, they are one of the most cost efficient means of bombing sand people.
I would like to see sub surface aircraft carriers become a thing, but i wont hold my breath.
