Here's my original route. Unfortunately because it took longer than I'd hoped to get through the alps I had to cut out pretty much the entire Kyushu portion. I took a ferry from Kitakyushu back to Osaka, and rode from there back to Tokyo to fly home. The only train I took other than subways to get around cities on my rest days was from Nagano to Jigokudani Monkey Park. It was cozy as hell.
