what you can feasibly own as an upper middle class income earner is picrel. TBO is 300 hours on its powerplant, but it costs about 10% of what an L-39 costs to overhaul. fuel consumption is about 1/8th that of an L-39. maintenance costs are many hundreds of percent lower on the sonex vs the L-39.
tl;dr if you are willing to endure the fact that you will not look like you're in a fighter jet to everyone else (but you will still very much feel like you're in one), you can actually own one.
