I've got a really short commute. The most direct route is roughly 2.5km one way, of which I'll ride any of my bikes I've got. Depending on mood, weather, and any number of other things I can extend it as far as I want with minimal traffic interaction, which is nice to say the least. Go-to commute this summer is likely to be a nice 6.5km route along a freshly paved MUP.
Current ride has been this beast. SSCX with fat 45c tires, 42/17 fixed, fenders, risers and a basket. It's pretty fun. Usually have some knobbies on with a much lower SS ratio for winter.
