Pros aren’t using front derailleurs anyways, and it’s not because they need the better remote. Plus there were several years where you’d regularly see both front derailleurs and dropper posts on some of the more aggressive XC courses
Trails aren’t always designed to be ridden at a certain speed, and if they were that all went out the window when mountain bikes became grippier, more stable and faster. Plus the smooth descents I’m talking about where actually spinning out is a problem are definitely not built for a certain speed, and when going downhill, the gearing is more for weight balance than cadence, being able to get the force you wanted in a single pedal stroke rather than 2 REALLY makes a difference when weight balance is the only reason you’re keeping traction, in that way mindful pedaling IS part of technical skill. Everybody says pumping is the king for speed sure, but what about when you’ve mastered it? Is coasting the max speed possible on a bicycle? Why do the pros pedal at all?
Believe me, if I could stick a 34t on my bike I would’ve done it a long time ago
