I've ridden in slushy snow and when I got back to the hotel, the rear mech was one solid chunk of frozen mud/ice with a channel through it where the chain travelled. Had to knock it off with my lock but it more or less came off in one piece.

I know that look though. It IS nice to ride in terrible weather when you're geared for it. My commuter used to have a cup holder on the bars, I'd use pic related and fill it with hot coffee and sip it at lights on the way to work. Even in pouring rain, I'd be comfy as fuck. Only downside is that with a latte, you have to clean the mug asap at destination because otherwise it smells of dried milk in the mechanism etc and that tastes like shit next time. The pieces come apart easily though and it's pretty simple to clean but you have to do that every time and straight away.
Even though I had to ride two hours at 7am in all weather, I miss that commute. I was super fit during that job, rode 50km/day just in my work week.
