The death of post trains is rather sad since there is now a new market open with parcels and couriers. Older high speed trains could be loaded up with parcels and what not, taken onto high speed lines when capacity is low and then blast along the lines. SNCF and La Poste already do this, and Royal Mail do this in Britain with 15 Class 325 EMUs.
Since we are buying more and more things online from Amazon and whatever, it would make sense to get high speed trains before they're scrapped, convert them to carry parcels, and then do express overnight deliveries using these trains.
