Then I was in my Nissan LEAF and had an idea.
put fish eye cameras around the helicopter. use software to correct. create an artificial overhead image. then add some graduated lines so you know how close you are to something. throw in some ultrasonic or laser range finders too.
then the pilot or co pilot can look at a screen on his instrument panel and know where his bird is, in relation to the objects on the ground.
