OK,I was no more a student pilot, but i had less than 30 hours on that plane and i still feel like one
How I almost destroyed a plane for a multitude of very bad decisions.
Also my very first green-text.
>Be me, ultralight pilot
>taking off with the plane on pic related
>on maintenance flight
>runway was a grass strip
>400m long
>the period was very rainy and humid
>it rained for at least 4 days non stop
>We booked the maintenance on that day, and was one of the few days when the rain stopped
>decided try anyway, because we had to prepare the plane for an airshow
1° MISTAKE: overestimated the conditions of the strip
>at least 50-70 meters of said strip where flooded with water
>welcometothericefields.webm
>lined up on the strip with 350m of available runway
>on the end of the strip there are some steel anti-intrusion pylons (meant for cars)
2° MISTAKE: overestimated the take off distance
>plane has a 250m take off distance usually, VR is about 75Km/h
>at the time I thought that even with those conditions I was able to take off within 300m
>math.jpeg
>I was so fucking wrong
>Max power
>Speed increasing, but really slowly
>300m left, 30km/h
>continue
>250m left, 45km/h
>go on
>150m left, 70km/h
>trying to rotate
>speed even decreased
>100m left, still 70km/h
>now my brain screamed: ABORT THIS FUCKING TAKE OFF
>cut of power
>reach for the brake lever (ye, this plane has a lever for brakes, activates left and right brake at the same time)
>as soon as i started braking, the plane started fucking drifting to the left
>kanseidorifto.png
>ohfuck.gif
>started to battle with the pedals to keep the plane straight while braking intermittently
>continued drifting left and right for almost 70m, then regained traction and direction with still 15km/h from stopping
>finally stopped 10m from the anti-intrusion pylons
>I was heavy breathing and full of adrenaline, i stayed where i stopped for 5 minutes at least with the engine still running trying to calm down
>Never again
