In 1925, the Dutch East Indies had plans of an elaborate electrification scheme aiming to electrify the Main Lines of Java. The first sections was built between Tanjung Priok to Meester Cornelis (Now Jatinegara) and the main line between Batavia to Buitenzorg in 1930. The great depression meant that there's no money and electrification did not continue until 1987 albeit only around Jakarta.
