>>1212375I got myself this bike for 400 euros a few years ago - it's a locally handmade frame out of mid-level Columbus tubing and had an old low-level Campagnolo groupset. It was pretty ideal since it had the Ergopower shifters in the brakes instead of the old-type downtube shifters, based on the groupset I think the bike was made in the late 90s.
You could either hunt for a decent complete bike or just get a frame and slap some modern parts on it, just make sure an actual road bike instead of a touring one! Modern parts fit otherwise on old frames but you'll need to stretch the rear triangle a little bit as hubs nowadays are 130mm wide and they used to be 126mm but you can easily fit the wider hub in a steel frame.
