>>1202277That would be tough in my community. There are urban areas within 3 miles of downtown that are dense enough it makes sense to be car free and the area is expensive to live in. However 3 miles from downtown a different direction there are still SFHs and cheap apartments because the area is less desirable. The poor that live there still need cars to commute to jobs in the suburbs while most of the people in the dense neighborhood are going to have downtown professional jobs. And then you have a community only 1 mile from downtown with very dense subsidized housing and pretty good transit access to some areas of the city (LRT with 10 minute headways). Amazon is currently has shuttle buses from the dense subsidized neighborhood out to their warehouse in the suburbs because they can't find enough people to work in the suburbs.
