Is this a good rear hub for long term touring in third world countries? I want a reliable hub, strong axle and cup+cone, ease of service and replacement without being a complete brick.
Touring forums complained that the newer Deore XT uses a thicker but lighter aluminium axle which meant smaller ball bearings inside, which didn't last as long - but I don't know if that's going to be an issue, and I can't find the axle type for this.
Says it uses Scylence tech, aka quiet freewheeling. Sounds like music to my ears (or rather, doesn't), but lots of complaints about a first batch not working properly and creaking.
Would /n/ choose this hub or is there a better option?
