Since I'm here, here's a pic of my DMU regional back to A Coruña, where I'll catch my sleeper back home after lunch. Few trains between Ferrol and A Coruña, buses are faster and run every hour, tho they're slightly more expensive and also fuck buses, not comfy.
The Barcelona-Galicia sleeper will probably not be discontinued in a foreseeable future, so long it remains profitable. Barcelona to Galicia is about 90% non HSR (all HSR lines are to/from Madrid), the fastest day trains take 9 hours. Madrid to Galicia by HSR will prolly be like 3-4 hours, so Barcelona-Madrid-Galicia taking 6-7 hours and costing twice as much as current day trains wouldn't be worth it.
Currently I think the only night trains left in Spain are Barcelona-Galicia (train splits and reaches both Vigo and A Coruña), Madrid-Ferrol, and Madrid-Lisbon.
