>>1900420Without getting into the case at hand: A used bike for almost a grand ? Unless its something really special and has its value outside of its utility I would never do that. Even if its maybe 3K new and only a year old, do you know the history ? If it turns out someone had a bad whoopsie and managed to hide it cosmetically and effectively for the time being you'll be really pissed once it surfaces.
>Picrel:FC6400 cranks where the smaller chainring is a 'biopace' type of affair. It's got a creak and I suspect and hope for it to be the chainring. It has this odd peg and I suspect it could be the culprit. What is it for and is it a meme ? Does it really provide 'rigidity' ? After all its only in one spot, only constrained to the chainring and merely rests on the crank arm. So it provides some added rigidity in only one direction at only one spot along the perimeter of the chainring. Can I simply ditch it and see if that helps ? Am I missing the purpose of this thing ?
