Friend invited me on a long journey in the spring. I have a sort-of mountain bike that I don't want to use because it is bulky and, really, crap. I only use it because it is cheap.

I'd like to get a better bike for this trip. Something that has disk brakes, but otherwise, I am not too picky. I also would like to be able to sit somewhat straight up because I have a bad back and the road-bike position hurts after just a few minutes.

Anyone have any suggestions for a good cheap bike to look at?
