Time to kill this subject once and for all.
See pic related chart comparing paraffin wax as a chain lube to various other brands of chain lube.
The takeaway here is that while paraffin wastes the least amount of power, the difference between paraffin and the worst on the chart is ONLY A FEW WATTS OF POWER.
Only a pro road rider on the World Tour would care about 3-4 watts difference, and quite frankly I wouldn't at all be surprised if pro team mechanics replace chains after every stage of a stage race, just to be sure it's optimal.
For you unracer/commuter/casual rider types? It doesn't fucking matter WHAT you use for chain lube, you're NOT going to notice any sort of difference.
So you may as well just use whatever is convenient to use and not waste all the time and effort required by this 'paraffin wax' meme.
Ask yourselves: what would you rather do, spend more time fucking around with your chain, or more time riding? Rhetorical question, you have a bike because you want to RIDE IT, not sit in your apartment or room or garage mucking with pots of hot wax and messy chains, inevitably getting wax all over your bottom bracket, cranks, rear triangle, and rear cog/cassette/derailleur pulleys.
