Entire under fuselage was coated in oil all the way to the rudder trim tab. We had been flying for 1.6 hours doing commercial maneuvers, then went to a nearby airport for power off 180s. we did 3-4 landings, and during the last take off roll right after we passed the numbers my instructor looked out his window and said “oh fuck we need to land immediately”. He took the controls and made a call that we would land on the opposite runway. Did that. Taxied to maintenance. Mechanics were shocked when they saw all the oil. They said took the cowling off and said we only had less than 2QTs of oil remaining (out of the 7 we started with). They showed us the issue. Whoever serviced the aircraft last failed to connect the oil line. The shit wasn’t connected at all when the cowling came off. The mechanics said if my instructor wouldn’t have noticed it, we wouldn’t have made it another lap in the pattern, and if we did it would have seized probably after the next take off.
