Southwest Airlines even got their start doing intra-state flights in Texas - it's that lucrative a market. The time savings is worth it for a lot of businessmen; the greater opportunity to work on the go afforded by the railroad is likely to be very attractive to them. If they don't get cucked by landowners along the route this project is unironically going to make the people behind it rich.
