some commuty on gravelly terrain partialy, some use the spares they have, some use it for comfort/wheel durability, Ive dont my fair bit of thin tire commuting with flat bar and Im not a fan of it after Ive tries the 90s mods. It highly depends on area, if you are going above curbs and have a lot of tram lines in city the big tire small wheels is better than a speedy commuter + 26" mods are just more fun to dorifto on pavement after work and add a cheeky move etc.
