My two daily cycles have rim brakes:
one with alu rims + v-brakes (brakes quite good) the other one has steel rims + brakes like your pic (brakes like shit, especially when wet - I use the rear kickback brake then)
I got a vintage roadbike with rippled steel chrome rims. Worst brakes ever, it barely brakes at all although perfectly adjusted + new brake blocks.
If wet, pulling the brake doesn't do anything at all.
The bakes make a hell lot of noise, I just need to touch the brakes instead of using the bell
My cross-bike has hydraulic disc brakes and this is the brake type that I'll have on every new bike I'm going to buy. Anything else is shit and I've had em all.
