What are the actual advantages with disk brakes, considering the limiting factor would mostly be the tyres and not the braking surface/system itself?
The aero benefits make no sense, considering you're adding the disk to the stream (additional surface area, pumping losses etc), you could get a different rim design, but I'm yet to find a deep section rim that would really benefit from the removal of the braking tracks.
Better braking on the wet is really debatable considering newer carbon rims with channels in the braking surface.
I'm all for new, better tech, but this feels a bit silly in road/commuting bikes imho.
