So many successful guys don't give a fuck and will give up everything just to feel like they have some agency outside of where they work and what they buy.

Bike touring people are often in this same wavelength. They're relaxed and friendly but dig a little bit and you'll find a radical with a deep hatred if Modernity, whether they are aware of it or not
cycling attracts all different types. The Roadies are fine I guess, way better than a cage. But they're on a completely different trip than someone who just wants to get the fuck away from people and stop living for some metric of success... Salary, follower count, KOMs, 401k, watts, elevation... Suck me
And this is also why social tour-ish stuff like group bikepacking, rando, etc are gross. I'd tour with my wife and kids but nobody else please. Go away
