I don’t see washboard too often even in rural uk/france, maybe it’s a midwestern burger phenomenon. Often it’s loose gravel and churned up ancient tarmac, do you think those kind of rural roads and footpaths would benefit from the 38mm for comfort over a multi day trip?
I guess I’m just weighing up 35mm vs 38mm+ as a choice between comfy and capable vs long distances and fun speed. That’s the crux. If I picked 35mm I could pick a lighter frame and fork too
>curveball Ever contemplated 35mm rear and 38+ front? With a comfy enough rear you’d only need the grip of a bigger tyre up front as rear skids are much easier to control, and most of your weight is in the rear ‘ more traction on a skinnier tyre
