Guys, I have a radical idea.
>take any existing rail transport system
>doesn't matter if tram, light rail, metro, commuter rail
>as long as it is compatible with automatic vehicles
>you come to the station in the off-hours. The next scheduled train is coming... next morning
>"fuck that", you say and press a button next to the ticket machine
>within minutes, a small people mover cabin arrives on the tracks and opens its doors for you
>you get on and press another button for the station you wanna go to
>the cab starts moving
>along the way, two or three other people hop on and choose their stations
>you get to your destination faster than it would have taken during rush hour and go home
It's the perfect system for saving tons of staff and money by not running night trains for five people max, but still offering excellent service regardless. Posting DLR because I think such a system would be easiest to implement there or on a similar network.
