Nashville, Tennessee.
A $5.2billion transit plan for Nashville has been unveiled.
Light Rail Transit is proposed along Charlotte Avenue/Pike (west), Gallatin Pike (northeast), Murfreesboro Pike (southeast, connection to Nashville International Airport), Nolensville Pike (south), and an existing rail line (Northwest Corridor). The completion of the first LRT lines is expected for 2026, with a complete build out in 2032.
A tunnel under 5th Avenue is planned from Charlotte Avenue (connection to Music City Central; a bus station) in the north to Lafayette Street in the south. Both buses and LRVs will use this tunnel. Completion is expected for 2027.
Improved bus service and “Rapid Bus” on four corridors are also planned.
A referendum on tax surcharges (that will fund this plan) will be held in May 2018.
