OP here. Today was my third day skating and I loved it. Instead of having a sore ass and just wanting my exercise session to be over, I actually enjoyed staying out longer than I expected!
This time I worried less about things like getting my camber absolutely perfect on my one foot, which may actually just be the result of bad ankle control, and just went with the flow.
Here are some things I think make this activity so fun:
Being connected to the ground so closely and being able to feel, hear, and fully control each and every stride produces an experience that's totally different from that of riding a bicycle. It is thrilling when you're speeding down a massive hill, but it can also be relaxing when you're just striding along, exhausted.
And the "free" nature of the activity makes you want to keep your "flow" and experiment with things. For example, today I weaved in between things on the ground and I tried crouching super low while going downhill.
