>>1910726Im 5’11’ and I bought a beautiful 90’s rigid mountain bike size 45cm for $150 instead. Then I flipped burgers for a few hours, rode the new bike on mtb trails and dirt jumps for 2 hours, then went home, smoked a ton of weed and immediately proceeded to order $300 of bike parts from Jensonusa for it. Continental raceking tires, a complete modern 1x11 drivetrain involving my spare gravel derailleur/cassette (a choice I made after realizing that square taper and FD grip shift is somehow worse than I remember), a trigger shifter, sram dub bb and SX crankset, cables and housing, PEDALS!!, a wider handlebar with some sweep, and some ESI grips.
I did not touch the cantilever brakes (pads look recently replaced and they worked fine), did not touch the wheels (although they grind when they spin, they still spin freely and stayed true for 2 hours of rocks and jumps) the entire bike is absolutely pristine, no way there’s even 500 miles on it since the mid 90’s
Yeah it’s a dump of money but I’m figuring if I ever break the 30 year old aluminum frame, I have all the parts to make a modern 1x of any 90’s mtb again… I’m not believing grip shift or square taper’s lies ever again
You get an online photo of the bike because I forgot to take a picture at the top of the hill, I even brought my phone and everything
