Oh good, I've been waiting for a new /mtg/, tried the /toy/ one but didn't have much luck there.
I'm helping my dad tear down his old, mostly abandoned layout before he sells his house. He wants to start a new layout after he moves so we're trying to salvage as much of the trackwork, switches, etc. as possible. The problem is that pretty much every metal rail joiner on the whole layout is completely fused in place. It's not that big of a deal on flextrack (which makes up most of the layout) since I can just snip a cm or so off the end, but it's a major problem with the switches, and we'd really like to save those in particular since they're the most expensive part. Anybody have any suggestions for getting these things unstuck?
