Recently ended up with picrel since everything else which was available was either garbage or in the ~$200 price range. Was wondering how needed are a bearing removal tool/press? Back in my skating days we just knocked them out and pressed them in with what ever was handy and never had an issue, bike people seem insistent on having the proper tools but they also seem to like spending money on tools. The aluminum of the BB is probably less forgiving than the hard plastic of skate wheels but I would expect that would make it less likely to go in funny but also a bigger issue if they did go in funny.
Need to get ready for winter riding and want to be prepared in case the road salt eats the bearings. Think these will hold up better than most non-ceramic external BBs in the salt, the silicon seals that come with them seem to seal very well. If I don't stick with this BB in the long run I think I will keep the seals, they look as though they will work with most any external BB.
