Fukui Railway has officially put up a poll to determine the renaming of Echizen-Takefu Station to prevent confusion with the upcoming Hokuriku Shinkansen station with the same name (Takefu is written in hiragana instead of kanji). Poll is only available for those who are actually take the train by asking for a ballot at Echizen-Takefu Station from October 16th to November 30th, the winner will be announced by December and the change becomes official in Spring 2023. Here are the five choices:
1. Fukutetsu-Takefu
2. Fukutetsu-Echizen
3. Takefu-shin (Revert to the old name before the rename in 2010)
4. Kikka-Takefu (Kikka / Kiku aka Chrysanthemum is the town's flower)
5. Echizen-Fuchu
