Shanhai - LA route is 19270 miles. 100 days travel. 3000 people working 12 hours shifts is 3613125 man*hours. At $15/hour wage it is $54 millions salary pay per 100000 tons delivered.

100000 tons ship (4000 TEU) burns 75 tons of bunker fuel per day. 40 days travel. 2810 tons of fuel. $560 per ton is $1.5 millions of fuel costs.

And we are not yet talking about logistics, time and fees for docking and unloading 100 ships vs 1.
