Pay depends on the spray season. That is dependant on the weather.
If it rains, you’re making money. Lots of it.
If it doesn’t, you don’t make shit.
We charge around $10/acre. A pilot will make around $1.50 of that.
Some years we spray 250k acres. Some years we spray 80k.
That is split up between 3 pilots, too.
Last year the same pilot took home around 110k for 5 months of work.
People who spray for money either A.)get killed B.)get fired for shit work ethic c.)quit once they figure out how demanding it is in various aspects.
You have to love it and devote your whole life to doing it. Much like any flying job, I suppose.
