Welp /n/, it finally happened.
I was riding to work and stopped for a quick coffee. I go to this shop nearly every day, it's in the "luxury" district. I was inside for 10 minutes and came outside to my bike, as well as 2 others on the bike rack, disappearing.
I had a u-lock on the front wheel/frame and the rack, and a cable lock connecting the back wheel and frame. Of course, nobody saw anything. I filed a police report after waiting for them for 2 hours and then walked my sorry ass the remaining 2 miles to work (coworker dropped me off after work).
I've filed a police report, set up alerts for online marketplaces, and I will check out the local swap meet tomorrow or the next day. Is there anything else I should be doing?
I've never felt so violated in my life. I spent $700 on that bike, which to me is a significant amount of money. I took all of the necessary precautions, but still got made. I am hoping that my renter's insurance policy will help cover the replacement cost but I don't know if it will cover property stolen off-site.
Anyone have a good story of getting their bike back after it was stolen?
