Meanwhile a pellet of 00 buck weighs 60 grains and leaves a shotgun at around 1200ish fps. Which would hit harder do you think?
I agree that a shot of 00buck shot will put down a pit faster than a round of 9mm most of the time. But you can see that it isn't because the 9mm is weak. The reason is you have 9 60 grain pellets scattering into the animal. However, you have to be high off your rocker if you think even those round lead balls will bounce off of a pit bulls skull. Bone is strong but brittle, which is why it fractures. A small lead object colliding with even a thick pit skull at over 800 miles an hour will crack through and you are tripping if you think otherwise. I mean for christsake a .22 short will go through a human skull easy.
Taking all that into account, you have to make follow up shots because being charged by a pit is stressful. What would be easier? A 3 inch 12 gauge round or a 9mm? Also what would give you more capacity?
