just got an old (late 80s) trek 530 frame and I'm going to a bike co-op to get a U-brake because that's what it was made to take for the rear brake and can't convert it easily to V or cantis and they've got a bunch. I've taken it apart and cleaned out all of the bearings and sprayed it inside and out with fluid film.
Should I, other than the brakes which I'm kinda tied to, try to find shimano parts from that time frame and try to keep it classic, or should I maybe try to go 1x with some slick wheels and stuff?
Also, I've already got a black seatpost and a couple of black bottle cages - should I try to spraypaint some of these parts to match the grey/teal paintjob and coordinate it? I figure this is somewhat more appropriate than the BQG thread, I've got the technical data for the parts sorted out, just not sure what route I want to go.
