Crashed on my morning commute, flew right over the handlebars. I THINK. I don't remember anything in between the instant I noticed something wrong when I got out of the saddle to accelerate to when there were people around me calling 911. Hit my head hard enough to crack and scrape the fuck out of my helmet and then tumbled onto my ass, which makes it hard to walk/sit now. Fuck the "hurrdurr who needs a helmet" fuckers. Was in the ER all day yesterday, CT scan showed no concussion, I'm just very butthurt now. I had a mild headache but it went away already. Right after the crash though my BP was so low I couldn't stand up without fainting. Before that I was going to just walk the rest of the way to work, it was only a block away.
I realized today since it happened immediately after getting out of the saddle, and that the medics found my chain stuck in between the frame and the freewheel that my knee probably hit the POS shifter in picrel. Bike is not mine but it's the same shifter. I usually cruise in 4th or 5th and probably knocked it to 7th with my knee, and it probably simultaneously dropped the chain off the freewheel while my foot dropped abruptly causing me to jerk the bars or something, because I vaguely remember the bars jerking or me doing it.
I'll post the damaged helmet next, I can't even get up to go get it by myself, have to have my wife help me get anywhere. X-rays showed no broken pelvis/spine either so I'll probably be ok in a few days.
I'm not gonna cheap out on bikes anymore FUCK. Fucking A050 shifters. I've knee shifted with them a shitton of times before and it was an annoyance, no big deal, but idk yesterday maybe something else went wrong, or I let my guard down.
