>>1229801>>Cars are marketed as fast, powerful objects that convey masculinity & financial success >>Commercials often show car speeding down mountain roads or empty city streets, often driven by handsome men in the company of hot women.>>Unsuspecting consumer buys into the idea that owning this car = they go fast, get lots of respect from everyone else, and fuck lots of women>>Consumer purchases carThat is only true of sports cars, most cars are just a mobile sofa people use to get to places they need to go.
>>Consumer doesn't go fast, doesn't feel newfound respect from others, spends most of their time stuck in traffic, and still spends their evenings lonely.>>Cyclists weave through congested motor traffic on cheap bike>>Consumer seeing this experiences road rage from subconscious disappointment that they weren't given when the marketing staff for the car they bought was selling them.>>Consumer takes it out on Cyclists and other motorists because they are the reason they can't go fast, get respect, and fuck woman. That could only be applicable is cities, just as many people take issue with cyclists in the suburbs, cyclists can only move past people if traffic is at a standstill
Motorcyclists also hate cyclists and they can also filter (though they get shit for this too, that's just jealousy I guess) and have no problem passing cyclists anywhere.
>>1229747The truth is that driving any vehicle is about control and if someone is blocking your way they are taking control from you which is seen as a direct attack on that person's ego. This is why everyone going faster than you is a suicidal lunatic and everyone slower is a brain dead moron.
Interestingly enough this is why all the best fighter pilots and racers of all types aren't the people with the best reaction time or really even the most athletic, but the people who are the biggest control freaks.
TL:DR driving and cycling is basically an abusive relationship
