Anon went to the airport today and now you have to bear to all of this:
MAIN THESIS:
Düsseldorf Flughafen Bf is painfully underused by commuter traffic for being the only express stop in the north of the city. It should be an intermodal transportation hub for all its surrounding quarters and has the potential to cut traveling times significantly for people in a 5km radius.
OTHER THESES:
a - U81 could improve the situation slightly, but only if a direct connection between Flughafen Bf und U79 can be made. The extension to Flughafen Terminal won't make a stark difference except for some air travellers living in northern Düsseldorf, but in not reach of SB51.
b - Placing SkyTrain under the airport administration was a bad idea. It makes it seem like an internal private transportation system for the airport, despite being completely publicly funded and run. It's also currently reaching its capacity limit.
c - The potential for Bike+Ride at Flughafen Bf. is not explored properly. Being an express stop in an otherwise pretty sparsely populated region makes it a perfect destination for bike commuters with a scenic route along the way.
RESTRICTIONS:
It shoud be the priority to further develop already built-up land and increase density. An exception can be made for some plots east side of the station as they would act as sound barriers.
