>>1883371I thought he was crazy at first, but ended up finding out he's been doing this for so long that he can very quickly recognize the difference between safe and unsafe. Any time in my early hours of training thi bgg s were starting to get out of hand, he'd help out on the controls. But he strongly believes one of the best ways to learn is to let the student attempt to recover from situations instead of guarding the controls and taking over any time things get spooky. There were some wild moments in the beginning, but him letting me mentally and physically struggle on my own in absolute bullshit conditions (every flight of my first 20 hours was in miserable weather) made me pretty good for a low hour PPL pilot. I only have about 65 hours on the books now and they trust me alone taking the wife on dates with the singular R44 the entire business revolves around.
