Except that American roads (and more worryingly bridges) have been underfunded for half a century (apart from the BUILD MORE budget) and are literally falling apart around you. You quite plainly have more road than you can possibly afford to maintain.
I'm from Germany, and Americans have to maintain about four times as much road per tax payer as we do, yet they expect to accomplish it with lower taxes than us. It just does not add up in any way, shape or form.
