>>1185823nashville barely has an urban core, dumbfuck, and bumping sales tax into the double digits to pay for light rail that nobody will pay fare on or even ride will provoke a taxpayer revolt. the people behind the proposal could not even state that it would alleviate the city's traffic problems or how they would promote paying ridership, given that everyone who usually uses public transit in the US (elderly, poor, disabled, kids) would be exempted from fares under their plan. it was a really fucking obvious boondoggle and the voters were smart enough to catch on to it.
