You shoot them dead when they're still too far to get you. You don't wait until it's charging at you and you begin screaming while you try to reach for your spray, pull the safety pin out and pray the wind isn't going to blow it all back in your face and incapacitate you.
It's not "American" to have a gun in the wilderness of the Canada. It's common sense. Moose, polar bears, black bears, brown bears, wolves, cougars and even lynx can take you down no problem. There's a reason why there are nearly 13 million guns in the possession of Canadians.
