>>1576447That's ignoring the biological side of things. Up until like 150 years ago, we had been evolving to suit our environments. The agricultural revolution turned us from wandering monkey tribes into modern humans with organized settlements, and the result was accelerated selection and self-domestication. Those who could not adapt died or failed to breed, those who could adapt outbred everyone else. We see the impacts plainly on humanity, all the ethnic groups called "bug people" on 4chan have a common history of higher rates of urbanization and high population density when compared to Europeans.
The "issue" with modernity is that we took the selective pressure off of humanity in many ways, meaning we become less suited for our environment every generation. Modernity is marching forward, and we are the same humans as before this all started. In a world with little selective pressure, whoever pops out the most kids defines the gene pool, so we're probably going to make ourselves too retarded to function in short order.
Realistically the solution will make most people absolutely seethe, and it will be gene editing. People will scream eugenics, and the people who think Bill Gates is using vaccines as population control will probably have an aneurysm, but it seems pretty obvious humanity has no future without it. It will most certainly be less painful than the leap our ancestors made in the transition from hunter-gatherer society to agrarian society. So don't worry anon, you will likely be one of the last generations of humans who loathe the cities which give you life, security, and comfort.
