On a slightly related note, how about empty parking lots?
Here's a little strip mall zone near my house. How many of these parking spaces are actually being used. Like 1/4?
If people could get off their fat asses and walk for 5 seconds you could just have that big parking lot service the whole area.
Many of these buildings clearly don't need parking at all. And if you removed their parking lots you could pack them closer together for easier access.
Hell, why not just put them all in a single building and... woops, I just invented the mall.
