Could somebody ELI5 the "Hello New Odakyu" thing I've been seeing all around, and maybe provide a bit of backstory?
What is the most likely service operation pattern for the future Rinkai-Keiyo and Keiyo-Sobu thru service projects? From a bit of research I think the main infrastructure additions will be as follows:
-Quadruple-tracked section between Shin-Kiba and Ichikawa-Shiohama (along the waterfront)
-Utilizing the current Keiyo-Musashino connections to build a new Keiyo-Sobu connection (between Futamata-shinmachi and Nishi-Funabashi)
-All Musashino Line trains will only run between Fuchu-honmachi~Nishi-Kokubunji~Shin-Matsudo~Nishi-Funibashi. (Tsurumi~Fuchu-honmachi is for freight only.) No more thru service as far as Kaihim-Makuhari.
Will Rinkai-Keiyo thru services continue to Soga, or to Chiba (and Narita Airport, etc.) via the Sobu Line? Will Keiyo Line trains starting from Tokyo Station only run onto the Sobu Line, or will there be a handful of Tokyo~Soga services per day?
And what's gonna happen with the Kawagoe Line thru service? Will it remain intact, will Rinkai-Saikyo thru services now terminate at Omiya?
Actually, this really underscores how deeply interconnected the commuter railway network is in Tokyo. The Ueno-Tokyo Line has triggered ripple effects wherein if there's an accident on say the Takasaki Line, the delays will spread to Utsunomiya/Tokaido/Joban since the Ueno-Tokyo Line intertwines all four lines.
