If you're ever cycling in a Japanese city, try to stick to the roads that are more narrow and can't accommodate lots of car traffic. They're more scenic + comfy and you'll have more room to maneuver. There are very few dedicated bike lanes so riding in traffic on a fully loaded bike is less than fun, and the sidewalks are brutal for bumps and navigating pedestrians.
